Xu Zhen

at the Domaine du Muy

For the second year the monumental work “12’91’’” by Xu Zhen, loan from the Ullens collection, is shown in the Domaine du Muy, a park of sculptures initiated by Jean-Gabriel and Eward Mitterrand. “12’91’’” represents a tank which turns to be more a peace metaphor than a war symbol. The piece finds a perfect framework in the wild nature of the Domaine du Muy. Born in 1977, Xu Zhen is today one of the leading figures of the Chinese art scene. He lives and works in Shanghai; he is represented by Galerie Perrotin. Produced in 2005 with the support of Guy and Myriam Ullens, the work has been an icon of the historical exhibition “China Power Station” at the Serpentine, London, in 2008.
